The first round viewing of the 2013-2014 KWPN stallion selection starts tomorrow, Wednesday 4 December. Horses International previews the entered stallions. Rare sons of Big Star, Orient Express and Norton d’Eole feature the G-year, born in 2011. There are also stallions out of the damlines of Audi’s Jikke, Vink Especiale, Simon and Carthago in the catalog.
353 jumping stallions have been entered for the first round viewing. That is significantly more than last year when there were 327 jumping stallions in the catalog. But mostly the pedigrees of the entered stallions are interesting.
Baloubet du Rouet
The number one of the WBFSH Sire Ranking 2013 is the former olympic champion Baloubet du Rouet. The son of Galoubet A is sired to six entered stallions. Two of the are out of a special damline. Catalognumber 24 Genius (ds. Cantus) is the halfbrother of the 1.60m-jumping KWPN-stallion Vleut (by Quick Star) and therefore has the jumping legend Audi’s Jikke (by Concorde) as a granddam. Genius is one of the most interesting stallions of the first round viewing, genetically speaking.
The best blood of France is running through the veins of cat.no. 27 Baloulisco du Lozon. Baloubet du Rouet, Jalisco B, Uriel and the thoroughbred Rantzau are combined in his pedigree. His dam Eolysca (by Jalisco B) jumped at 1.40 m-level. Moreover, Baloulisco is out of the direct damline of jumping phenomenon Itôt du Chateau. Granddam Theo (by Uriel) is dam to the Selle Français –approved international show-jumper Gin Tonic Star (by Jalisco B) and a 1.55 m- jumper and granddam to two 1.60 m-horses.
Rare genes
Jumping phenomenon Big Star (by Quick Star) only delivers a few descendants a yearand his halfbrother Orient Express HDC is not even available for breeding. Still, these topjumpers of respectively Nick Skelton and Patrice Delaveau, have a son each in the catalog of the KWPN stallion selection. Cat.no. 49 G-Star ES (ds. Jumbo-Jet) represents Big Star and is out of a very interesting damline. His mother O-Jay is already dam to three international show-jumpers. Moreover, G-Star ES comes from the direct damline of the KWPN-sire Zapatero VDL (by Chin Chin), which jumps at international level under the saddle of Jessica.
Cat.no. 228 Bottleneck is a superb bred son of Orient Express out of the Laudanum xx-daughter Dame Ricard. Bottlenecks granddam Fidelite A (by Arlequin x) jumped 1.60 m and is a former French champion as a mount for Etienne Laboute. Dame Ricard is already dam to to international jumping horses and the Selle Français-sire Street Hassle (by Quick Star). His percentage thoroughbred is 62.26%.
Bottlenecks halfbrother Street Hassle sires cat.no. 274 Black Bird (ds. Le Tot de Semilly). He is bred out of Orient Express’ dam, Kamtchatka. Granddam Loripierre (by Foudre de Guerre) jumped 1.60 m with Gilles Bertran and is dam to Dollar de la Pierre (by Quidam de Revel), which won teamgold at the 2002 WEG in Jerez. Black Bird combines the valuable blood of Quick Star to the damlines of jumping phenomenons Orient Express and Dollar de la Pierre.
